Preparing for the Seder: The Kabbalah of Passover with Rav Pinson

In preparation for the upcoming Seder, join Rav Pinson for a special two-part evening exploring the deeper mystical teachings behind one of Judaism’s most powerful and transformative nights.

The Seder is not simply a ritual meal or a retelling of an ancient story. In the teachings of Kabbalah, the night of Passover is a unique spiritual opening in time—a moment when profound forces of redemption and awakening become accessible within the soul. Understanding the deeper meaning of the Seder allows us to approach the night with greater awareness, intention, and presence.

This two-part class will serve as a preparation for the Seder, revealing the hidden spiritual structure behind its symbols, rituals, and stages.

Part I: The Mystical Foundations of the Seder

In the first session, Rav Pinson will explore the deeper spiritual ideas that form the foundation of the Seder. We will examine the meaning of Mitzrayim—Egypt—not only as a historical place, but as a state of inner constriction that exists within every person.

Through the lens of Kabbalah we will explore the symbolism of the Seder plate, the spiritual significance of matzah as the “bread of faith,” and the four cups of wine which correspond to the four expressions of redemption. This session will open a deeper understanding of the spiritual energies that are present on the night of Passover.

Part II: Entering the Seder with Deeper Awareness

The second session will focus on how to approach the Seder itself with greater intention and consciousness. Rav Pinson will guide us through the deeper meaning of the Seder’s structure and how each part of the evening reflects a movement within the soul—from constriction to expansion, from exile toward freedom.

We will explore the inner significance of telling the story of the Exodus, the symbolism of maror and the experience of bitterness, and the deeper meaning behind the rituals that shape the Seder night.

Together, these sessions will provide a powerful preparation for the Seder, helping us enter the night with a deeper appreciation for its mystical meaning and transformative potential.
